It's been a while

I haven't posted on my blog in a long time, I just sort of lost interest in it.  I have nothing to talk about like I see other bloggers do, I don't really share private stuff on here like many do, so that doesn't leave much to talk about.  I decided that I would just blog when I finished a quilty item, so that's why I am here, I have a couple of finishes.

I love cheddar fabric, I have all kinds of it in various shades and patterns, but this one piece I have been holding onto for YEARS needed to be made into something, it's a Judie Rothermel Centennials line I believe.  A couple of my quilt friends told me they are making a cheddar and CW fabric bowtie quilt inspired by the one on Bonnie Hunter's blog, so I decided I needed to do one too.  I decided to just keep making bowties until I ran out of this piece of cheddar I had.  I kept going and going and it got up to being about 72 inches square and I said that's big enough.  I was getting kind of sick of bowties, since I worked on nothing much but this for about a month.  I just wanted a utility quilt for my family room couch.  I loved this cheddar so much I found it online and ordered more of it for future use, I am sure there are many quilters who do that!

Here it is, I still need to get it quilted.  I think if you click on the picture it will get bigger.

I found after I was done with this that I had a few pieces of the cheddar pieces cut and I didn't want to throw them away so I cut them down smaller and made a mini made with just CW blues.  I laid them out in a different configuration, it's about 15 inches square.  NOW I am done with bowties for a very long time!  Here's a picture of that one.

I have sort of reached a point where I am very paralyzed by my stash.  I have been making a lot of stuff just using what I have on hand.  It's sort of fun seeing what you can throw together that way.  I could probably go 5 years without buying anything else except maybe borders, backings and bindings for everything.

Well that's it folks.  I will post again when I have more finishes.

Good to see a post from you, Beth. I really, really like the smaller cheddar and blue bow tie piece you made! I like the bigger one too but the smaller is my favorite.
I made a bow tie quilt top several years ago with manly looking prints. I tried to give the top to several people and I couldn't get anyone to take it for ages. Finally a friend did take it. I assume she had it quilted. Wasn't a thing wrong with it except it was a masculine looking piece.

Both your quilts are fabulous! I know how it is with blogging, I just came back after a 2 month break myself. I love quilting but I have no room to display most of mine which are stacked in a closet unfortunately. I just posted finishes on 2 applique quilts if you stop by my blog. Hope you find time to keep blogging and sharing.
