Everyone else seems to be doing this in quilter-blog-land, so I guess I will too!  LOL

A little update with pictures...

I need to start blogging more.  Since the last time I blogged, I still continue to work on my Dear Jane "journey."  She's coming right along.  That's pretty much all I work on these days.  My BOMs have all gone to the back burner for now, but they are here in my room in their project bins reminding me to come back to them eventually.  I never get tired of working on Dear Jane because there is a different block each time.  Right now I am working on some of the triangles because they can be a little more time consuming than some of the blocks.  Here's a picture of what I have so far.  I was told by my friend Yvette that I need to make the top row of triangles and two for each row I've done, so that is a total of 17.  I'm up to the challenge.  I think any of these pictures you can click on to see them bigger.

When I get to the point I feel like I need a little break from working on Dear Jane, I go make something for my miniature dollhouse.  I am eventually going to build one myself, I have a kit coming in the mail and have big plans, but in the meantime my husband recently bought me a prebuilt one.  My daughter used to have one when she was little, but when I married my husband and we all moved in together, my daughter decided she didn't want it anymore, so I gave it away to another little girl who did.  But you better believe I kept all the furnishings we had, that stuff is expensive!  What is it with me and expensive hobbies???  I think being a miniaturist can almost be more expensive than quilting.  Here are a few little pictures.  Some show parts of the kitchen, one is of part of my sewing room, of course I have a sewing room in my miniature dollhouse!  It's hard taking decent pictures in miniature dollhouses.  I'll share more when I think to take more pictures.  I ought to get out the good camera instead of my phone.

Here's a little picture I tried to take of the kitchen.  It's so much cuter in real life.  The little pot on the chair is a Le Creuset that I found on the Williams-Sonoma website, it's actually a magnet, but heck is it cute and it says Le Creuset on it!

Here's a closer look at this little corner of the kitchen, I think it's my favorite part in the house.  I still need to paint that table.  I made that little poster on the wall.  I saw it on someone's Etsy shop and after finding the picture online, I made my own.  I also made the little Betty Crocker Cookbook you see there.  Here's a closer picture so you can see the book.  I made it because I actually have this exact cookbook, it's from the 50s and it was my mom's, she gave it to me a few years ago and I cherish it.

I got the picture of the book online and just printed it on fabric.  I think it came out pretty good.  That little tray of hand pies I recently bought from a lady online who has the most gorgeous miniature blog, she make stuff for Etsy and they go fast.  Cute huh?  Here's a link to her blog if you want to see some cute stuff.

Here's one last picture, it's part of my quilt room, which takes up the entire top floor of my 3-floor house.  I made the little pillow on the couch after I saw it on someone else's blog.  Amazingly, I was able to find the exact picture by googling, man I love google!  I had to put a black lab since we have one, and I made that little quilt he's laying on.

Ok, my husband is chomping at the bit, he wants to go run errands, better go!  See you next time.

What I've been up to...

I have been sewing A LOT lately, mostly keeping up on my blocks of the month, but also I started the "journey" to make a Dear Jane Quilt.  I was a little scared at first, but now I am hooked on it.  I don't want my "journey" to last 15 years so I am working on it every waking hour it seems.  LOL  I started in March and I have finished and sashed 4 rows.  I figure if I do 24 blocks a month I can finish it by the end of the year.  I am sure going to try.  Here's a picture.  I think if you click on it you can see it enlarged.

Well that's about all I have right now.

Sunday, March 10, 2013

I was talking to my friend Yvette and she convinced me that I must be nuts to try to do the Nearly Insane quilt that I had on my Goals list from my last post.  So I scratched it off.  But I have been busily working away so I could scratch a few things off for the month.  Here is a picture of a few of the things I have been working on.  At the top are the blocks from the quilt Women's Voices that I am getting as a BOM from my LQS.  Then I have all the blocks from the Country Threads freebie BOM.  Next to those are LAST month's blocks from the Crossroads BOM I am getting from Homestead Hearth.  And finally 8 Dear Jane blocks.  I have 2 of the triangle blocks to make me current for this month.  They are a lot of fun to make.  At the bottom is last month's project from Sewing Under the Stars that I am taking at Temecula Quilt Co.  I need to get that one done and this month's cut out, I'm behind!  Oh, and in between all that, I am still knitting away on a pair of socks and a sweater vest.  Eeek!

Thanks for stopping by.

Update:  While I was chatting on Facetime with Yvette yesterday, I finished this little monthly mini from Temecula Quilt Co.  Instant gratification!

I also forgot, I wanted to share this picture of LAST month's Temecula Quilt Co. Sewing Under the Stars project.  I hated working on this quilt, I detest making snowballs, but I really like how it looks on our dining table.

Ok, this is really it for this post.  Anything new will have to be a new post.  LOL

Goals

My friend Yvette makes a list of goals every month and By George she gets a lot done!  So I am going to try her method and make a list and see how I do.

Here is my list, pretty scary, let's see how well I stick to it.  I'm thinking that maybe if I put it on my blog I will be absolutely shamed into doing some of these projects!

Blocks of the month to stay current on:
Fat Quarter Shop Mystery
Four Star Generals
S'mores -- make 20 blocks a month instead of 10
Crossroads
Amish with a Twist Two
Women's Voices

Additional Projects to work on:
Nearly Insane -- 10 blocks a month  (Yvette made me come to my senses, so this one is on the back burner for now)
Traditional Dear Jane -- 10 blocks a month
Farmer's Wife -- 10 blocks a month
Country Threads Freebie -- stay current!
Cotton Club -- blocks are finished, set them!
Saturday Sampler quilt -- finish it!
In the Meadow We Can Build a Snowman -- need one last row, finish it!
Chicks quilt -- just need to embroider the stupid legs, finish it!
Temecula Quilt Co.  -- finish this month's Sewing Under the Stars project, stay current on monthly mini
Bind some of the quilts in the huge pile!
Knitting:
Socks, socks, socks, a girl can never have enough hand knit socks!
Continue working on Magnolia sweater
Unknit dead items that will never get finished and put yarn back in stash

Cross Stitch...as if I don't have enough projects:
Work on Houses of Hawk Run Hollow

Well that was really exhausting just writing that.  Let's see how I do!

I haven't blogged in a while so I figured maybe I was in the mood to today.

I have been working on all kinds of things, but don't have very many finished things to show so I will just ramble, most of my projects are blocks of the month.  Here we go.

I have been doing a little knitting again lately after a long break. I finally finished a pair of socks for my good friend Nan (no blog) and mailed those off to her. I don't have a picture of those, they were just plain vanilla socks in a really pretty pumpkin color. I made a hat for my daughter too, I have another ball of the yarn I used for that and might make myself one. I am now working on making a pair of socks for myself from some yarn that I swear I have had for over 5 years, I actually think even longer than that. I finally today finished sock one. I need to hurry and cast on sock 2 so I don't get the dreaded SSS (second sock syndrome). I have also been accumulating a little bit of yarn over the past few weeks. I don't think I'll ever accumulate the amount of stuff I have for quilting, since I am only "eh" at knitting. My dream is to someday make a sweater. I have made sleeveless shells but those are easy. I found a local group of knitters on Ravelry and am going to go meet them later this evening, so I really need to get that other sock started so I have something to Knit In Public with. Here is the sock I finally made for myself. If humans were born with one foot I'd be set! LOL It sure looks huge in this picture...oh wait, I have huge feet!  LOL

Several weeks ago I had finished a cheddar and scrappy Civil War bow tie quilt, which I finally finishing binding and washing for the family room couch, and Talula promptly claimed it as hers.  Here is a picture.  That's the only picture I have of it but you get the idea.  I love that quilt.  It was quilted with Baptist Fans, I have always wanted a quilt with that pattern.  My quilter does the best work.  I don't know what I'd do without her!

Last month I joined a group at Temecula Quilt Co., Sewing Under the Stars she is calling it, we had to cut all our fabric ahead of time, it was sewing from 5:00 to midnight, whew!  I went with my friend Nancy and we hit the wall at 10.  The mystery pattern turned out to be a snowball quilt, I made the small version since I hate making snowballs.  Once quilted and bound, Talula claimed that one too, see a pattern here?  It's funny, if I remove that plastic bin from under it, she won't sit on it, go figure.

One of the blocks of the month I am working on is Amish with a Twist 2.  Month one involved making 12 blocks, which is funny because the way Homestead Hearth divided it up was to send us the fabric to make one block this month, how silly.  Anyway, here are the 12 blocks.  I am happy that I am current on MOST of my blocks of the month.  The blocks to the right of it are the free blocks from Country Threads, they are doing a free block of the month sampler quilt.

I DID have a finish a while back but haven't gotten around to blogging about it.  This is a block of the month from Homestead Hearth (all but one of my BOMs are from them, they make some cutting mistakes, and sometimes leave stuff out, but they put on a great BOM), it is called Welcome Home.  I LOVE this quilt.  I still need to get the ladder out and put the curtain hooks on it better, it's hanging a little wobbly.

One of the big plans I have on my "to do" list is to start a Dear Jane quilt with my friends Yvette, Ranette and Nancy.  We'll see how that goes!  That is definitely an adventure.

Well that is all I have right now.  If I finish anything else I'll be back.
